Getting Closer to Our Goal

More than 125 volunteers showed up to help on Women’s Service Day last Thursday and, like last year, much of the focus was on Nuestra Casa and the Westcore neighborhood.

In addition to helping nonprofit organizations in the Holland/Zeeland community, participants raised $2,500 for Nuestra Casa through silent auction/raffle and pig-in-blankets fundraisers, helping push funding toward two-thirds of our overall goal of $75,000 for renovation costs.

Volunteers also donated at least two months’ worth of diapers for the Breakfast with Baby program, which was initiated at New Community/Fourth Reformed Church–right in Westcore neighborhood.

Besides their fundraising donation drive efforts, volunteers helped homeowners with a variety of home improvement tasks such as painting, cleaning, and setting up a garage sale for a neighbor with cancer.
